Lighting changes are generally easy to make, low cost and depending on the type of business, can reduce energy costs by up to 50 per cent.

Before you replace existing lighting get hold of a light meter and check if you can make more use of natural light and remove unnecessary lighting (delamping).(You can get a light/lux meter for about $50 – just google them)

There is tonnes of great info on the web in regards to energy efficient lighting but the Sustainability Victoria Fact Sheet covers most bases. Click on the link below to have a look:

Hi Bob,

This fact sheet is great as a starting guide, however there is no mention of LED lighting or Solid State Lighting! We work with LED Lighting and am quite shocked that a fact sheet would be published outlining the different types of lighting and have no mention of LED?

If we all sit down and really take a long look at LED lighting it will not take long to understand that LED Lighting will be the lighting source of the future. Large companies are investing way too much money in the R&D of Solid State Lighting (LED, Optic-fiber) for it to go unnoticed.

In the last 3-6 months LED Lighting cost has dropped immensely. We are also starting to see a fade out of the 18-48 LED models which are being replaced with “High Powerâ€

As per my knowledge SAVE OUR PLANET - LED lights are environment friendly. No mercury & No UV rays. SAVE MONEY ON REPLACEMENT COSTS - LED lights last longer more than 50,000 hours.SAVE MONEY ON ELECTRICITY BILLS - LED lights consume very less power. They give you 3 times the light output of a CFL for the same power.
