Adjust thermostats: Make sure thermostats are set appropriately. Winter temperatures should be 18-20°C while in summer a temperature of 24-25°C should be comfortable;

:arrow: Areas that are used infrequently such as storerooms and toilets can be set at 16°C in winter, which can decrease heating costs for these areas by about 30 per cent.

:arrow: Encouraging staff to dress appropriately for the season also assists.

If your office heating system doesn’t have thermostats, here are some tips for installation

Install thermostats: These can be installed to control temperatures automatically;

:arrow: arrow: should be installed in the main work area away from heat sources and draughts;

:arrow: Ensure controls can be overridden for holidays and long weekends so that you can turn off the heaters and coolers over these periods;

:arrow: Place locking covers over thermostats to prevent staff unnecessarily altering any settings.

WHAT ARE YOUR EXPERIENCES WITH IMPLEMENTING ENERGY EFFICIENT HEATING AND COOLING SETTINGS?

Do NOT set the thermostat to HOLD at a specific temperature. This requires the heating and cooling systems to run at night when you office is not occupied.
Keep all thermostats in your office on a similar program. If one area of your office is programmed to cool the office to 69 degrees and the other side of the office will heat to 69 degrees, the two zones will counteract each other and waste energy.

We should adjust our cooling systems according to the office temeprature that would be a suitable to the peoples. It can be easily adjusted according to the variable and the changing requirements of the users.
